Reynaldo A. Dario

A.B.'80 & L.L.B.'84
(University of the Philippines)

The firm's Managing Partner and Head Litigator, Atty. Dario's exposure to varied types of litigation requiring intricate advocacy, comprehension and argumentation techniques and skills strengthened his grasp and knowledge over a wide-range of legal issues and concerns.

Upon his admission to the bar in 1985, Atty. Dario joined the prestigious law firm of Quiason, Makalintal, Barot, Torres & Ibarra whose Of Counsel was former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and later Speaker of the Batasang Pambansa, Querube C. Makalintal. One of this firm's founding partners, Camilo D. Quiason himself was later appointed to and retired from the Supreme Court. While with the said law firm, Atty. Dario was entrusted with the more sensitive and controversial lawsuits in the country and on the side, attended to business law matters as well as maintained a column on the law in the now defunct "Manila Chronicle."

Atty. Dario then went on to assist and represent prominent political figures/families in the numerous civil, criminal and tax evasion cases brought against them by the government following the 1986 People Power revolution before the Sandiganbayan, Ombudsman, Regional Trial Courts, Court of Appeals and Supreme Court.

His balanced advocacy earned him in 1999 the endorsement by the three decades-old farmer's group, the Federation of Land Reform Farmers ["FLRF"] to be its sectoral representative in the twenty-two (22)-man Preparatory Commission on Constitutional Reforms created by former President Joseph Estrada to study and recommend amendments to the provisions of the 1987 Constitution of the Philippines related to the economy. Chaired by former Supreme Court Chief Justice Andres Narvasa, Jr. and co-chaired by former Prime Minister Cesar E.A. Virata, then Commissioner Dario as member of the august body's committees on natural resources and land ownership, espoused the necessary constitutional amendments to attract and boost investments in these economic areas in particular, while insuring the protection of the interests and rights at the marginalized peasant sector of the country. A large part of the invaluable study made and report prepared by the commission, of which Atty. Dario had the privilege to be part, has been adopted by the subsequent commission created by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Preparing to authoritatively advocate the pressing battle cry for sustainable development which seeks to promote economic progress while protecting and conserving the environment and the country’s finite natural resources, Atty. Dario who is on his last year, is currently pursuing his third degree leading to a Diploma in Environment and Natural Resources Management at the University of the Philippine’ Open University.

Atty. Dario has on-going pro-bono work for simple government employees with a consumer rights-related cause of action against a well-known giant retailer; for Filipino OFW’s who are victims of human trafficking by unscrupulous foreign and local manpower recruitment groups; a peoples’ organization founded in the 1970’s which promotes the advancement of the social and economic status of small farmers and fishermen; and for non-government organizations with environment-related causes.

He has completed his two-year term for the period 2005-2007 as a Director of the chapter for the four major Metro Manila cities of Pasay, Las Piñas, Parañaque and Muntinlupa, of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines ["IBP"], the national organization of lawyers officially recognized and supervised by the Philippine Supreme Court. He is also a founding and an incumbent trustee of the Muntinlupa Bar Association, the local working arm of the IBP for the City of Muntinlupa.

He continues to be an active member of the Upsilon Sigma Phi fraternity’s alumni association and the Philippine Constitution Association  [“PHILCONSA”].
