Design can reduce production costs in a number of ways including:  modular components, reduced raw material usage, better material flow.  Acuson Corporation and Lunar Design were able to achieve reduced production costs on the Sequoia 512 Ultrasound System through modularity, using fewer and less expensive parts.   The system boosted market share and raised profits.
